San Antonio father says he was released, then re-detained to lure daughter into ICE custody
Jul 1, 2026 · San Antonio, TX

Jesús Bracho, a San Antonio father, and his 9-year-old daughter Katherine, a student at Bonnie Ellison Elementary School, were detained near Loop 410 and U.S. Highway 90 on July 1, 2026. Bracho maintains he was released from ICE custody in order to lure his daughter into custody with him, and the two are now held at the Dilley detention center. U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro visited them and said Bracho was moved to tears with guilt, believing he was the reason his daughter was detained.
