ICE arrested roughly 300 Haitian nationals in Ohio over a few days, following the termination of Haiti's Temporary Protected Status designation on July 27. Officers conducted arrests outside stores and during traffic stops in Springfield, which has a large Haitian population, after the agency shifted from a self-reporting compliance period to active find-and-arrest tactics. A flight carrying 161 deportees landed in Cap-Haitien as part of the broader removal effort, and DHS also offered a voluntary return option including a free flight and $2,600 for those who chose to leave.
