Cuban intelligence asset deported after fraudulently obtaining U.S. permanent residency

ICE, FBI, and CBP arrested Fernando Armando Valdes Perez, a 61-year-old Cuban national and Guatemalan citizen, at Miami International Airport on July 10, 2026. Investigators alleged he was a Cuban intelligence asset who infiltrated Cuban exile and dissident communities while concealing his ties to the Cuban regime when he obtained lawful permanent resident status. He was placed in removal proceedings and deported from the United States on August 7, 2026.
