Maria Rocio Rocha, the mother of U.S. Naval Academy midshipman David Garcia, was detained by ICE on Aug. 25 while attending a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office for a green-card interview, according to Congressman Joaquin Castro's office. She was later transferred to the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in South Texas before being deported to Mexico. Castro, who nominated Garcia for the Naval Academy, said Rocha had been in the process of obtaining a green card and was 'doing everything the right way,' adding that she 'raised a bright young man with good character who is serving our nation.'
