Buffalo ICE arrests surge nearly 69%, most without criminal records

An analysis by Investigative Post found ICE arrests in Buffalo are on pace to rise nearly 69% this year, with 515 arrests recorded through Aug. 5 compared to about 350 in Rochester and 200 in Syracuse. Across 48 upstate New York counties, more than 2,900 immigrants have been arrested this year, three-quarters without criminal records. Since President Trump returned to office, ICE has made 1,127 arrests in Buffalo, 89% involving people with no criminal record, and the Department of Homeland Security recently reported 2,197 arrests statewide between July 27 and Aug. 29 under 'Operation Rotten Apple.'
