Ho-Yin Mo, a field representative for California Assemblymember Catherine Stefani and former KTSF journalist, was detained by ICE on September 17 during an enforcement operation at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas while traveling to Louisville. DHS said Mo entered the U.S. in 2020 on a temporary basis but overstayed his authorized period. Stefani called for his immediate release, describing him as 'a selfless public servant and a valued, legal employee of the California state Legislature' who helps Chinese American constituents access healthcare, childcare, and food support. Mo remains in ICE custody in Nevada while friends and community members, including a tech leader, have written letters supporting his case as he fights deportation to Hong Kong.
