A Nevada Independent analysis of federal data from the Deportation Data Project found ICE arrested 203 people in Nevada across a two-week span from late June to early July, the highest two-week total on record in the state. The analysis found increasing shares of arrests involved people with no criminal record and more arrests happening in the community rather than while people were already in custody. Five Nevada law enforcement agencies participate in the 287(g) program, including the Nevada Department of Corrections, which joined in July, though the program accounts for less than 0.5% of arrests statewide.
