Guatemalan trans woman who passed fear interview still detained over a year and a half as ICE pursues deportation to Mexico

A Guatemalan trans woman with protection under the Convention Against Torture was slated by ICE for removal to Mexico. She passed a fear interview in which an asylum officer found she was more likely than not to be tortured in Mexico, yet the government kept pursuing the removal, reopening her immigration court case and requiring her to win protection from Mexico all over again. She has been detained for more than a year and a half.
