Honduran man with torture protection, whose relatives were murdered, deported to Mexico and bused back to Honduras
2026
Country of origin: Honduras
A Honduran man whose family members were murdered in Honduras spent two years winning deferral of removal under the Convention Against Torture. ICE then deported him to Mexico. He told Mexican immigration officials he was afraid of Honduras and showed proof of his U.S. protection, but Hondurans were put on a bus; he saw an officer beat and drag a man who screamed that he did not want to go to Honduras. "I spent two years fighting my case, won my case, and then to be returned to the place that I was almost killed in is a surreal experience," he said in a declaration. He remembers little of the journey from Mexico to Honduras.
