Mass ICE operation detains around 100 people across Fresno-area farm communities
Oct 9, 2026·Location: Fresno, CA

A multi-day ICE operation in the San Joaquin Valley has detained an estimated 100 people in cities including Fresno, Selma, Kerman, Madera, Chowchilla and Parlier, according to Manuel Cunha Jr. of the Nisei Farmers League. Workers were detained at Fowler Packing Company south of Fresno, and community members reported ICE agents conducting roving patrols and traffic stops at gas stations, construction sites and roadsides. Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer said he has seen videos of children crying as parents were detained, warning of lasting trauma, while Cunha said the operation appeared to target Latinos and people of color at or near worksites. Rep. Jim Costa said more than half of those arrested had not been charged with or convicted of any crime, and fewer than 4% had a violent criminal conviction.
