More than 30 young people and community members gathered Thursday evening at Veterans Memorial Park in Chowchilla to protest immigration enforcement activity in the area. The demonstration was organized by 18-year-old Danny M. after a video circulated showing immigration officers detaining two people near a Dollar General. "I want to speak for others who can't," Danny said, adding that the issue was personal because his family had been affected by immigration enforcement. The group had also held a protest the previous day.
