ICE agents detained two individuals Thursday morning at the Arvin Car Wash near Bear Mountain and Walnut Drive. The UFW Foundation dispatched a Rapid Response attorney to the ICE office to assist those detained. Arvin Mayor Olivia Calderon said local families alerted the Kern Rapid Response hotline after witnessing the detentions, and residents described fear spreading through the agricultural community, with some saying they were afraid to leave their homes. The same day, ICE agents were spotted arresting a person in the parking lot of Superior Grocers on White Lane in nearby Bakersfield. ICE declined to disclose or discuss details of its law enforcement operations when contacted for comment.
