Jeifrank Barreto, a Venezuelan immigrant held in ICE custody in Kentucky for seven months, says conditions inside the facility are "torture" and that he was once served rotten food; DHS disputed the claim, saying meals are reviewed by dietitians. He has lost his asylum and bond appeals and is now asking to be deported back to Venezuela rather than remain detained. His son was three months old when he was arrested and is now nearly walking, and his partner says she is worried about his mental health.
