A 43-year-old Cuban detainee identified by the pseudonym "Isaac" said in a sworn declaration that guards attacked him in a hallway at Camp East Montana in September 2025 after he and about 30 others refused removal to Mexico, slamming his head against a wall about 10 times, twisting his ankles and crushing his testicles. He said the injuries caused severe pain lasting about a month. Isaac said he was later taken to the border where masked personnel were present and was told his country's refusal to accept him made Mexico a 'good option,' or he could be sent to El Salvador or Africa; he refused and was allowed back on the bus with two others while the rest were sent across. His account is part of a preliminary-injunction motion filed by detainees against the facility.
