Jesus Jose Carrero-Marquez, 30, a father who works as a DoorDash delivery driver, was arrested by federal immigration agents in Albuquerque's South Valley on May 31 while his wife and 5-year-old daughter watched. His wife said agents pulled him from his car, threw him to the ground, put their feet on his back and head, and lifted him by his neck before forcing him into a vehicle. Carrero-Marquez was hospitalized for hours at Presbyterian Hospital, reportedly due to injuries from the arrest, before being transferred to detention in Texas. He is seeking asylum for himself and his family after being injured in a protest against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and his wife says she has not heard from him and records show he is no longer in custody.
