Three brothers detained by ICE during Chicago commute
Jhony and Marco Gregorio, Guatemalan brothers who have lived in the Chicago suburbs for over a decade, were swept up along with brother Bayron during a predawn traffic stop targeting only one of them.

Jhony, Marco and Bayron Gregorio, brothers from Guatemala living without legal status in the Chicago area, were pulled over by ICE agents in separate vehicles during their predawn commute to work in late January 2025. Agents had a deportation order for Bayron but detained all three brothers, even though Jhony and Marco had no criminal records and had lived in the U.S. for over a decade with ties to suburban Maywood. Attorneys for Jhony and Marco argue the arrests violated a federal settlement barring warrantless collateral arrests, and the two brothers were later released but still face immigration proceedings that could lead to their removal.
