Marco Antonio Osorio, a 50-year-old undocumented Mexican immigrant who has lived in the Houston area since 1993 and installs fiber optic cables, was pulled over by a sheriff's deputy on a Texas freeway while driving home from a work site in Austin, then quickly surrounded by ICE vehicles. He told officers his daughter serves as a US Marine and showed them a receipt for his pending residency application, but was taken to a freezing holding cell and then a detention facility near the border, where he spent 40 days before his immigration lawyer secured his release for lack of due process. He continues working while awaiting an appeal, supporting a family that includes an autistic son.
