Wild Yahare Chirinos Romero, a Venezuelan man held in U.S. immigration custody, was among more than 230 Venezuelans expelled to El Salvador in March 2025 after the Trump administration invoked the Alien Enemies Act, and was detained for four months at the CECOT maximum-security prison, where he alleges he was beaten, pepper-sprayed and held incommunicado. He is one of three named plaintiffs, alongside Andry Omar Blanco Bonilla and Jerce Egbunik Reyes Barrios, in a proposed class-action lawsuit filed July 17, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against aviation companies CSI Aviation and GlobalX, accusing them of civil rights violations, false imprisonment and negligence for carrying out the deportation flights despite a federal judge's order that they be halted or returned. He was returned to Venezuela in July 2025 as part of a prisoner exchange but, according to the lawsuit, continues to suffer lasting physical and psychological trauma, including headaches and difficulty sleeping.
