Moises Enciso Jr., a 22-year-old college student from Cicero, Illinois, whose family came to the United States from Mexico about 18 years ago, was handcuffed and detained by ICE agents on September 14, 2025, after officers surrounded his family's car during a traffic stop. Agents repeatedly asked him whether he was a U.S. citizen before releasing him after about two hours, once they learned he had a pending DACA application. His parents, Constantina Ramirez and Moises Enciso, were not released and remain in ICE custody. Moises Jr. has since stepped into a caretaker role for his younger siblings, including a 12-year-old sister and 10-year-old brother who are U.S. citizens, as the family awaits his parents' next court date.
