Hediberto Ramirez Perez was arrested during the September 4, 2025 raid on the Nutrition Bar Confectioners plant in Cato, New York and was subsequently deported to Guatemala. According to his attorney, he could be kept apart from his wife and children in the United States for as long as two more years. He is one of four named plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit filed by the NYCLU and the Worker Justice Center of New York, which alleges that federal agents conducted a bias-based, warrantless sweep of Latino workers at the plant. Roughly 60 armed and masked agents took part in the raid, which resulted in 57 arrests and the separation of more than 20 workers from their children.
