On January 30, 2026, journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort were arrested for their coverage of a demonstration inside a church whose pastor also serves as an ICE field director. Fort was arrested at her home. Both were charged with interfering with the First Amendment right of worshippers and pleaded not guilty. Fort said the case leaves her fighting for her freedom and is "the government trying to muzzle me" from reporting on one of the most historic cases in Minnesota. Amnesty International and other civil society groups urged the Justice Department to drop the charges in April 2026. The case is ongoing.
