National Shutdown Planned to Protest ICE Enforcement

A nationwide protest called "National Shutdown" took place on January 30, 2026, with participants staying home from work and school to protest ICE immigration enforcement activities. The protest was organized in response to deaths resulting from immigration enforcement in Minneapolis, including an ICU nurse and a mother of three. Students at the University of Minnesota coordinated the effort with hundreds of organizations across 46 states.
