ICE arrests increased in Orange County last month

ICE arrests in Orange County increased significantly in January 2026, with average daily detainees rising from 93 in December to 142 in January. County officials raised concerns about ICE circumventing 72-hour release requirements by transferring detainees and rebooking them under new booking numbers. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced plans to limit detainees held without charges to 130 total.
