A federal judge ruled that county sheriffs' attempt to move an ACLU lawsuit challenging ICE immigration detainers to federal court was filed too late. The case, filed on behalf of Voces de la Frontera, challenges the authority of local jails to hold individuals based on ICE detainers for up to 48 hours. The case has been remanded back to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which had agreed to hear the expedited petition in December.
