May 20, 2026 · Speedway, IN

About two dozen protesters gathered outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 16, 2026, to oppose ICE detention operations at Miami Correctional Facility near Kokomo, Indiana. The rally was one of nearly 30 coordinated events organized by the Indiana Organizing Project across the state to demand that state leaders stop providing beds for ICE detainees. Protesters called attention to the facility's controversial 'Speedway Slammer' branding by DHS and reported that roughly 600 men are currently detained at the maximum security prison under poor conditions.
