Fargo businesses post warnings as ICE activity surges in region
Jan 14, 2026·Location: Fargo, ND
With ICE activity reported across the region including nearby Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Fargo businesses and community members posted warnings on social media. Immigration attorney Anna Stenson fielded frequent calls from fearful North Dakotans, noting that agents have shifted from targeted arrests to broader street stops since thousands of ICE personnel arrived in Minneapolis in December as part of federal pressure on Minnesota. A popular Mexican restaurant chain near the ND border closed citing ICE activity. Stenson, who has worked with clients from more than 100 nations, is advising residents, including U.S. citizens and longtime visa holders, to know their rights and prepare documentation in case they are questioned.
