Wyoming Highway Patrol gains ICE enforcement authority; National Guard deployment possible
Jul 28, 2025 · Cheyenne, WY

Governor Mark Gordon formalized a 287(g) agreement between the Wyoming Highway Patrol and ICE, making Wyoming the first state agency in the state to join the program. Only select officers will receive training to make arrests on behalf of ICE, with five Wyoming counties planning to train at least two officers each. Gordon indicated the Wyoming National Guard could be deployed under a bolstered partnership with ICE as part of the state's expanded immigration enforcement role.
