Honduran man dies in ICE custody after telling mother he was about to faint

Genry Ruiz Guillén, a 29-year-old Honduran man, died in ICE custody at Krome detention center in Florida on January 23, 2025. In December 2024, during a phone call from the detention center, he told his mother three times that he was about to faint and that he did not feel well; she was unable to contact him after that call. His mother traveled to the detention center seeking information about his whereabouts and was notified of his death by ICE authorities weeks later. His body was repatriated to Honduras. Ruiz Guillén was one of seven migrants who died in ICE custody during the first three months of Trump's presidency.
