Jun 7, 2025 · Florida, Cuba
Julio, a 48-year-old Cuban plant seller, was apprehended on June 7, 2025. He had complied with his required yearly ICE check-in just four months earlier. He was outside when he saw a van pull up slowly, then four vans drove toward him. Officers asked for his identification and upon reviewing his information said to another officer, "It's him." He had work authorization and a driver's license. He was detained and later deported to Mexico. While at Krome Detention Center, he witnessed an older man die from pneumonia after being forced to sleep on the cold floor for days.
