Longtime US resident with work permit detained on way to volunteer at food pantry — judge orders immediate release

Belizario has lived in the United States for decades and has a valid work permit and a pending asylum application. He was detained by ICE on his way to volunteer at a food pantry in mid-January. The government never produced a warrant for his arrest or any claim that he had violated the terms of his supervision or work authorization. A federal judge ordered him immediately released.
