Haitian man with PTSD denied seven daily medications for three consecutive days at Krome
2025 · Miami, FL, Haiti
A man detained at Krome since mid-2024 who was prescribed seven daily medications for conditions including severe migraines and PTSD from being kidnapped in Haiti years earlier said staff sometimes failed to provide any of his medications — once for three consecutive days. 'Then I get my migraines and sometimes they are so bad I need to call a medical emergency,' he said. At Krome, 'calling a medical emergency' means attracting a guard's attention and convincing them the issue is serious enough to warrant attention. He was allowed to see a mental health professional twice a month for 15 minutes.
