One man reported being denied access to soap or water for 20 consecutive days. People improvised bedding from polystyrene food trays and used shoes as pillows. By late May, broken air conditioning left 70 men with a single small fan. As of June 20, over 56 percent of Krome detainees had no criminal conviction or pending charge.
