September 15, 2025 · Baltimore, MD, Colombia

Santiago M., a 44-year-old Colombian man with an employment authorization document, was leaving the Walmart parking lot in Baltimore on September 15, 2025, when a van pulled him over. He showed officers his Real ID and said he was in the country legally. They ordered him out, grabbed him, and threw him to the ground where they handcuffed him. When he said he was not a criminal and asked why he was being detained, an officer told him it was because he did not have a green card.
