After being detained by ICE, he informed intake officers of his conditions and emphasized that going without medication could cause irreversible nerve damage. Despite multiple requests, he never received medication for his neuropathy. Within days, he began experiencing numbness in his legs and feet. 'I walk around my cell every night,' he said. 'I'm scared that I'll end up paralyzed.' A nurse prescribed sleeping pills instead of treating his condition. His daughter told Human Rights Watch: 'I am concerned he might die before his court date.'
