Despite informing guards of his cardiac history, they initially ignored him. Only after he banged on the door and said 'if I died it would be their fault' was he rushed out. At the hospital, he spent 12 hours in the emergency room with cuffs on his wrists and ankles. A guard told him he was 'a criminal' who did not 'deserve to be seen by a doctor.' He was diagnosed with a heart infection requiring cardiologist follow-up, but Camp East Montana never took him for the referral. He continued to report chest pain and high blood pressure with all requests denied.
