Jeffrey Suazo, 26, a Honduran national who came to the United States four years ago fleeing persecution, was detained by federal immigration agents on November 25, 2025, during an operation at his home in St. Paul. Suazo, who works as a house painter and is the breadwinner for his household, was leaving for work at the same time as a tenant who was the target of the operation. According to his family, agents surrounded both vehicles in unmarked cars and pursued Suazo when he drove back to his house; he was held inside for five hours while more than 200 community members gathered outside to protest. His family stated that agents did not present a warrant, threatened to force entry, and used manipulation tactics including taunting Suazo in Spanish and mentioning his girlfriend's 6-year-old sister to pressure him to leave the house. Federal immigration officials filed a criminal complaint charging Suazo with assaulting a federal officer.
