Transferred after a court filing or order

Transferred after a judge was asked to intervene

Documented stories describe people detained by ICE being transferred across state lines—or deported outright—within hours of a judge issuing an order blocking their removal or transfer, including cases in Maine, Iowa, Florida, Texas, and Washington state. Some were moved without attorney access, and in one case about 800 detainees were relocated from a Florida facility with families unable to locate them afterward. This pattern was first documented in January 2025, became recurring by January 2026, and has held a roughly steady share of reported cases since.

First documented Jan 2025, recurring since Jan 2026.

Share of each month's well-documented stories, Jan 2025 to Oct 2026. Volume is not shown: coverage grew over the record, shares did not have to.
