Colorado judge orders return of man deported despite restraining order

Marco Uriel Rodriguez Hernandez, an immigration detainee, was deported to Mexico by ICE the morning after Colorado's Chief Federal Judge Daniel D. Domenico issued a temporary restraining order barring his removal while a new habeas petition was pending. His attorney, Skylar M. Larson, had emailed the court order to federal prosecutors before the deportation, but Rodriguez Hernandez was not permitted to contact his lawyer beforehand and was deported from Texas without notice. His earlier habeas petition had led a judge to find the government was unlawfully denying him a bond hearing. The government acknowledged the removal was a mistake, saying officials in Texas who carried it out were unaware of the court's order. Domenico ordered the government to take all available steps to facilitate his return to the United States.
