The federal government is reportedly pressuring Minnesota officials to expand local jail cooperation with ICE to facilitate deportations of incarcerated community members. Freedom for Immigrants' executive director Laura Hernández warned that increased collaboration between local and federal law enforcement will propagate racial disparities and harm long-term residents with established families. The organization called on Minnesota to reject cooperation and resist what it characterized as a covert operation of family separation.
