Moises, a teenager from Guerrero, Mexico, fled cartel extortion threats with his sister and sought asylum in the U.S. after their CBP One appointment never came. The siblings were detained in government shelters in Florida and New York for months before being released and reunited with their mother in Tucson. The Tucson nonprofit Salvavision now runs a summer camp for asylum-seeking children like Moises, many of whose fathers are currently in immigration detention and whose families face rescinded work authorization amid the current administration's deportation efforts.
