Transgender women held in ICE detention across at least 10 facilities nationwide, including camps in Louisiana, Texas, Arizona and Colorado, say their gender-affirming hormone therapy has been abruptly stopped, causing rapid menopause-like symptoms, severe psychological distress and increased suicidal ideation. Detainees have also described sexual assault, harassment by staff and other detainees, and being shackled during transport between facilities. One woman held more than a year in a men's facility despite a pending asylum claim said she fears dying in custody. ICE has denied the allegations.
