Hundreds march in San Antonio against planned ICE detention facility
Oct 3, 2026·Location: San Antonio, TX
Hundreds of protesters marched more than a mile to a warehouse ICE purchased in February, which the agency plans to convert into a 1,500-bed immigration detention center. Local officials, including a Bexar County commissioner, called for an investigation into the property's purchase price, which was $30 million more than its appraised value. City and county officials said they are considering legal action, citing NEPA claims used successfully against similar facilities elsewhere. ICE did not respond to requests for comment on the demonstration or community concerns about environmental and infrastructure impacts.
