Eduardo: Cuban detainee alleges he was ordered to 'jump' into Mexico and beaten by guards

Eduardo (a pseudonym), a Cuban man, alleges he was ordered to jump into Mexico and beaten by guards.

Oct 23, 2025Fort Bliss, TXCountry of origin: Cuba

A Cuban detainee identified by the pseudonym "Eduardo" alleged that facility personnel twice attempted to remove him to Mexico despite his being Cuban and never having been there, including a trip around October 23, 2025, when he was transported with 10 Cubans and two Nicaraguans to Santa Teresa. He said guards replaced his metal handcuffs with plastic ones and told detainees to 'jump over into Mexico,' and that masked personnel beat people who refused to cross. Eduardo also alleged guards beat him separately after he sought medication, including an incident in which six or seven guards allegedly stomped on him while he was cuffed until he lost consciousness, and another beating after his release from solitary confinement that required a second ambulance trip to a hospital. His account is part of a preliminary-injunction motion filed by detainees against the facility.
