Carmen Herrera, a longtime San Antonio resident and mother of six U.S. citizen children who is married to a U.S. citizen, appeared at San Antonio's Immigration Court seeking relief in her case. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained her immediately after her hearing, and video of her being handcuffed and placed in an ICE van went viral on social media. She was later deported to her native Mexico. Her attorneys say she had multiple paths to legal status and supporters note she had lived in the U.S. for years, held steady employment, and had no criminal record, while ICE said she had a final order of removal.
