Alex Maganda, a 2018 Morehouse College graduate and former football player, was detained by ICE agents outside Dallas. He is being held at the Bluebonnet Detention Facility in Anson, Texas, about 200 miles from Dallas. Maganda had worked as a teaching assistant giving Spanish lessons at an Atlanta high school after graduating and most recently worked as a sales executive with AT&T. A Spelman College graduate and social media influencer publicly urged the Morehouse and Spelman alumni community to help him, describing him as 'a kind-hearted individual, a dedicated worker, and someone who has always been there for his friends and family,' and the news spread across HBCU social media platforms with calls for legal aid and support for him and his family.
