Luz's adult son was violently arrested by masked ICE agents on Oct. 19, 2026, outside a residential building in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood. According to an eyewitness and widely viewed surveillance footage, agents slammed him against a window, a plainclothes agent ran across the street with his gun drawn, and officers then pushed him to the concrete, breaking his glasses. He has lived in the United States since he was six years old, worked on farms in Monterey County, and has a son of his own. Immigration attorneys say the arrest is part of a broader pattern of increasingly violent ICE arrests across the Bay Area, with Mission Local verifying six arrests in the past week, four involving violent tactics and two resulting in hospitalizations.
