A federal judge in Oakland ordered the Trump administration to halt investigations in nine states into whether noncitizens, including naturalized citizens, were registered to vote. The judge found the government relied on 'voluminous and unreliable' data and that agents were given only 12 minutes per case to assess eligibility, leading to intimidation of voters and poll workers. The ruling, which applies until election day, was brought by nursing unions, Voto Latino, and two California counties.
