Maria Alejandra Valero Brinez, 24, has been detained at Arizona's Eloy Detention Center since August while five months pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy. She told visiting lawmakers she previously suffered a stillbirth three years ago due to a low-lying placenta, and now has the same complication but is not receiving regular prenatal care, only seeing a doctor during medical emergencies. U.S. Reps. Adelita Grijalva, Yassamin Ansari and Maxine Dexter visited her and are calling for her immediate release, saying she has experienced abnormal bleeding and multiple emergency room visits without being told the results of her ultrasounds.
