118 detained in Central Coast ICE raids during holidays

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted raids across California's Central Coast from December 26-31, 2025, detaining more than 100 people. DHS stated all 118 arrested were criminals including sex offenders and burglars. Immigrant rights advocates reported 147 total detentions and stated that authorities engaged in racial profiling in predominantly Latino working-class communities. The operations resulted in family separations during the holiday season.
