Border Patrol Officers Charged With Taking Bribes

Apr 5, 2025 · San Ysidro, California, Mexico

Two U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, Farlis Almonte and Ricardo Rodriguez, were charged with accepting thousands of dollars in bribes to allow undocumented people to enter the country without showing documents at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Evidence included phone communications with human traffickers in Mexico, unexplained cash deposits, and surveillance video showing vehicles waved through checkpoints. Investigators seized nearly $70,000 in cash believed to be connected to the scheme. Five corruption cases involving CBP officers in the San Diego area have occurred in two years.
